An actively used Apple ID can become very valuable over time - in order to create one, an email address must be provided during registration. In addition to Apple's own email address, one from a third party can also be used.
It often happens that users select a third-party email address during the registration process. Some users are forced to give up the email address over the years. There can be various reasons for this, such as the provider shutting down, loss or something similar. For such cases, Apple has offered the option of changing your Apple ID since 2017. However, many users are not aware of the necessary steps to do this. Some do not even know that this is possible.
How to change the linked email address in the Apple ID
To make the change, the website must first appleid.apple.com opened. The user must then log in to the portal using the current Apple ID data. Due to the activated two-factor authentication, this step must of course also be completed. Once the login is complete, the user can click on Edit to the right of the Apple ID. The command Change Apple ID XY must then be selected. The user can now enter the new desired email address - the change can then be confirmed by clicking on the Continue field.
How to customize an Apple email address
If an Apple email address is used (@icloud.com, @me.com or @mac.com), this cannot be removed. To do this, the user must add another email address. This can be used for the registration process in the future. The adjustment can also be made under appleid.apple.com be made.
The user must now go through the same registration process. Once this has been done, the command to the right of Edit Apple ID must be clicked. Now the Reachable at field can be selected below the entered date of birth. Here the user can add another email address and telephone number and then select them for the future registration process.
