Accessory manufacturer Nomad recently introduced a new charging station, the Base Station Hub with MagSafe. This is essentially an extension of the Base Station series.
In August this year, Nomad launched its wireless charging station Base Station Mini, which charges an iPhone or AirPods, is magnetically aligned—making it MagSafe compatible. Now the company has extended this practical MagSafe compatibility to its Base Station Hub, which can charge up to four devices simultaneously. In the meantime, I took a look at the new product and compared it with previous models. As mentioned, the new charging station can charge four devices simultaneously. It features three Qi charging coils with up to 10W of wireless power—7.5W for the iPhone—as well as two USB ports. There's a USB-A port with a power output of 7.5W and a USB-C port with 18W. Below are the product highlights:
- Charges up to 4 devices simultaneously (2 wireless, 2 wired)
- Up to 10W wireless charging speed (iPhone charges at 7.5W)
- Magnetic alignment as an additional benefit for MagSafe products (iPhone 12 series and newer)
- USB-C PD 18W port
- USB-A 7.5W port
- Padded leather surface for wireless charging
- Ambient light sensor dims the LEDs at night
- Price: $119.95

Nomad Base Station Hub with MagSafe: Familiar design, new feel
Like its predecessors, the brand new Nomad Base Station Hub with MagSafe is made from high-quality materials and features a matte black aluminum housing and a padded leather surface. Even as a charger for four devices, the Base Station Hub remains minimalist and slim. As we have come to expect from Nomad, the quality and attention to detail are on par with Apple. The premium leather is noticeable as soon as you unpack it. Unlike the Base Station Apple Watch Edition, the new charging station can be used with or without Nomad's aluminum holder for the Apple Watch (sold separately).

Charging Apple Watch: Possible but not a must
If you don't have an Apple Watch or charge it in another way, you can do without the accessory and charge two iPhones or one iPhone with AirPods. If you have more devices, you can of course use the USB slots. However, if you don't want to do without the Apple Watch holder, you will of course need one of the USB ports. Unlike the Base Station Apple Watch Edition, the new version does not have an integrated charging surface.

You therefore need to attach the charging puck of your Apple Watch to the holder and connect it to the charging station. If you have Apple's new charging puck with USB-C, you can simply use this port or use USB-A.
My conclusion
Personally, I have never been disappointed by a Nomad product. The MagSafe component makes charging even better. Once again, this is a great charging solution, with a timeless and very high-quality design. However, this is also reflected in the price. I also realize that not everyone is willing to spend that much money.

However, anyone willing to do so will certainly enjoy Nomad's latest charging station, as it's a premium product – visit the Nomad online shop. (Image: Nomad)
