At the end of last year, Anker introduced an iPhone LED light that is supposed to replace the iPhone's flash. Find out below how good the new accessory really is and whether it delivers on its promises.
Anker has the new LED flash mid-May officially debuted in Germany and now we want to know whether the little cube keeps its promise. The new LED flash is the first of its kind to receive Apple approval "Made for iPhone“ There have been a few such products in the past, but they all relied on Bluetooth. The results were never really convincing. But Anker's solution has one advantage - the iPhone LED light is connected to the iPhone via a lightning cable. This means that the LED flash is synchronized with the iPhone camera in real time and is therefore triggered at the right moment. Important: The accessory was designed to be compatible only with the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
The design and specifications
The design is reminiscent of a small cube with an LED light on the front. On the side is the integrated lightning cable and the charging port as well as a small power switch. If you don't want to hold the cube when using it, you can attach it to a tripod. Anker includes a small storage bag and a silicone diffuser with the LED flash. The iPhone LED light is equipped with a 700 mAh battery that allows for around 10,000 shots in flash mode or 50 minutes of lighting during video recording. It can be fully charged using a lightning cable and 5W charger within around 75 minutes.
Setup and Compatibility
While the cube is only compatible with Apple's latest iPhone generation, the flash can be used with both Apple's camera app and third-party solutions. Due to its simplicity, there is no need for complex setup. This means that as soon as the LED flash is connected to the iPhone via a lightning cable, it is ready to go. The button on the cube switches between lighting and flash mode. Anker's latest accessory ensures even lighting overall, which is also noticeable in the pictures.
The new iPhone LED light actually provides significantly more light than the iPhone itself and enables good results in poor lighting conditions - whether in a video or just in a picture. This means that, on the whole, the cube does what it promises. But who is the accessory suitable for? Anyone who takes a lot of photos or films with their iPhone as a hobby should actually consider Anker's iPhone LED light. It will prove to be a valuable addition. The MFI accessory costs around 50 euros and can be purchased at any time from Amazon - for Apfelpatient Amazon Storefront.
