With iOS 18.2, Apple is bringing two new AI-based features to the iPhone: Image Playground and Genmoji. These tools are designed to make image and emoji creation much easier and more creative.
According to a report by Mark Gurman in Bloomberg's Power On newsletter, the two new features, Image Playground and Genmoji, will be released in December with iOS 18.2. Apple is relying on even more artificial intelligence to further improve the use of the iPhone. These new tools aim to promote personalization and creativity in content creation.
What does iOS 18.2 bring?
iOS 18.2 is expected in December and will include the Image Playground and Genmoji functions, among others. These features are designed to encourage user creativity and improve the personalization of images and emojis.
Image Playground
Image Playground lets you create images in seconds. You just enter a description and the tool creates an image based on your information. You can also use photos from your library and customize the images. This feature is ideal for quickly creating images for news, presentations or social media.
Genmoji
Genmoji allows you to create your own emojis. You enter a short description and the tool creates a matching emoji. You can further customize the result until it is exactly what you want. You can also convert people from your photo library into emojis, which is a fun addition, especially for personal messages.
Requirements for the new functions
To use Image Playground and Genmoji, you need an iPad or Mac with an M chip or an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max or later with iOS 18.1 or higher. Initially, these features will only be available in English, but more languages will be added over the course of the next year. It is also expected that EU countries will also officially be able to enjoy Apple AI from 2025. (Image: Apple)
