According to display analysts, Apple could introduce a new MacBook Air model with a larger display next year.
The new MacBook Air is said to have a 15-inch display. According to analysts, the device would join the existing MacBook Air, which, according to analyst Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants, could also get a new display size. This information was published in the company's quarterly display analysis report. It remains unclear what the specific plans are for the 13-inch MacBook Air. Apple could reduce the frame and make the device's display closer to 14 inches, like the current MacBook Pro models.
Will Apple give the MacBook Air a 15-inch display?
In addition to the MacBook Air predictions, Young also believes that Apple is developing a larger 10-inch iPad model. The base model iPad currently has a 10.2-inch display when measured diagonally. But shrinking the bezels could push the device's screen size to 10.9 inches, like the iPad Air. Young is known for providing accurate information about Apple's display technologies. According to the report, the new predictions are based on interviews with brands, panel suppliers, device manufacturers and others in the display industry. This is not the first mention of a 15-inch MacBook Air. Internal emails from the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs suggest that the Cupertino tech giant was considering at least a 15-inch MacBook Air model in 2015. Of course, Apple did not follow through on those plans. That may change in the future. (Photo by insidestudio / Bigstockphoto)
