This year, watchOS 10 is set to bring some notable changes to the Apple Watch, including a revamped design with a focus on widgets. Reports suggest that the new Apple Watch interface will allow users to quickly access information without having to open specific apps. Renowned Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman revealed more details about these changes in his Power On newsletter.
The Apple Watch has become an important part of the Apple ecosystem since its debut in 2015. With the latest version of watchOS 10, Apple aims to further unlock the potential of the Apple Watch by improving usability and accessibility. According to Gurman watchOS 10 will include a new user interface with widgets, which are considered a "central part" of the Apple Watch. Similar to the "widget stacks" on the iPhone and iPad, the new interface is intended to allow users to quickly access information without having to open apps. The widgets will be available for various functions such as activity tracking, weather, stock tickers and calendar appointments and will be displayed as an overlay on each watch face.
watchOS 10: A redesigned design with widgets and faster access to information
The overall goal of the new design is to give people "faster access to information" without having to open special apps. Another change Gurman revealed concerns the Apple Watch's digital crown. In the current version of watchOS, a press of the Digital Crown takes you to the Apple Watch's home screen. In watchOS 10, however, Apple is testing the Digital Crown to open the new Widgets interface instead, similar to the original "Glances" feature in the first version of watchOS. watchOS 10 is expected to improve the Apple Watch experience by integrating widgets. Users can quickly access relevant information without having to open special apps. It remains to be seen how users will react to the changes, but it is certain that Apple remains committed to establishing the Apple Watch as an indispensable part of its ecosystem.
