Apple TV+ debuted on November 1, 2019 and currently only offers access to Apple Original content. But that could potentially change.
According to a new CNBC report, Apple has actually been in talks with the film production and distribution company Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The topic of discussion is a possible takeover of MGM by Apple. The latest report confirms an older article in the Wall Street Journal, according to which Apple is in talks with MGM. According to this, Apple is considering expanding the TV+ Mediathek through third-party content. MGM currently has a library of content worth around $10 billion. Content includes James Bond, RoboCop, The Magnificent Seven and more.
Not the only conversation
The current article, like the WSJ report, does not contain any details on the status of the talks. Accordingly, it is not expected that a deal will be reached any time soon. It is also not known whether the talks will continue - stresses CNBCBut there is a positive side to the whole thing - Apple is apparently considering expanding its own media library with third-party content. According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple is also said to have held talks with PAC-12. The discussion is said to have focused on the integration of live sports into Apple TV+. But nothing more is known about this topic either. So it remains to be seen what Apple will offer us in the TV+ area in the coming months. The continuation of the previous Apple Original content is considered certain, however. (Photo by Usis / Bigstockphoto)
