According to rumors, the 6.1" device will be the successor to the iPhone 8 and will be the new entry-level model. In addition, two OLED devices, each measuring 5.8" and 6.5", will most likely be released, Apple's flagship.
Due to problems with the backlight, the LCD iPhone will not be available until October, writes the well-informed analyst Katy Huberty, from the Morgan Stanley bank, in her recent report to investors.
"We currently see no delay in the run-up to Apple's upcoming flagship OLED iPhones," said the analyst. "However, suspected problems with the LED backlight have led to a one-month delay in mass production of the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone." The original forecast had been as high as six weeks.
This delay could have a negative impact on Apple's fourth fiscal quarter, which ends in September.
