Yesterday, a rumor hotly debatedthat Apple wants to replace the Beats brand with AirPods or the Apple brand entirely. But that is not true - according to a new report.
The well-known YouTuber and Apple leaker Jon Prosser claimed yesterday that Apple is planning the end of Beats. The popular headphones of hip hop legend Dr. Dre are to be replaced by an extensive range of AirPods - both in-ear and over-ear. But that is not true. The US blog 9to5mac claims to have received information that replacing Beats is not under discussion. The report:
Apple has invested in Beats' hardware division since acquiring the company in 2014. Beats hardware has released new products with Apple technology built in, starting with the Powerbeats3, Beats Solo 3, and BeatsX in 2016. Each product shared the technology used in the newly introduced AirPods. More recently, Beats has released entirely new designs for products that meet different consumer needs than Apple-branded headphones.
Everyone can be wrong
Another argument for the continued existence of the Beats brand is the user group. Some do not want AirPods and prefer Beats to them. They are still a best seller, which is why a discontinuation would be completely absurd. According to this, Prosser's statement is completely wrong. It is doubtful whether this will damage his credibility. After all, he was right with some of his statements. Apart from that, it is difficult to be right all the time in the Apple cosmos. Even top dogs like 9to5mac can be wrong - see the report regarding the new entry-level iPhone. Whatever the case, one thing is certain, according to the insider - the Beats brand will remain on the shelves. (Photo by Sorbis / Bigstockphoto)
