We've already read several reports that an Apple TV with a brand new design is in development. But today's report contains a few details that are, to be honest, questionable. In addition, it is even claimed that Apple is working on a console similar to the Nintendo Switch.
Rumors about Apple TV models with a new design have been around for a long time. But so far nothing of the sort has been presented. Now iDropNews claims in a rather dubious Articlethat Apple is working on a redesigned Apple TV box that will have a flatter, thinner footprint and a "plexiglass" top. The report, which simply cites "sources," claims that an Apple TV with a thinner and flatter design is in the works to eliminate the "horribly outdated and bulky" design of the current generation Apple TV. The new device will feature a "plexiglass" top, a design feature that is also expected on the upcoming Mac mini. Interestingly, the description in the article is reminiscent of the first generation Apple TV line.
Is Apple working on a Nintendo Switch competitor?
The article also claims that Apple is working on a Nintendo Switch-like console. Interestingly, this is not the first time we have read this. We read rumors a few months ago that Apple might be working on its own gaming console, or at least pursuing the idea. According to the report, it will be a "premium hybrid gaming console" whose performance will "surpass anything Microsoft or Sony offers in 2021." How credible is this rumor? To be honest - hardly or not at all. Neither iDropNews nor the author of this report have a solid track record, so all information should be viewed with great skepticism. Many different blogs will probably cite this report, but perhaps only a few of them will classify it correctly. So again: take it with a large dose of skepticism. You don't have an Apple TV yet?
