Apple Pay Later, a new service from Apple that allows customers in the US to split a purchase into four installments over six weeks, is reportedly being delayed until 2023 due to technical challenges.
At WWDC in June, Apple announced that Apple Pay Later would be available in a future update to iOS 16, but did not give an exact timeframe. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg wrote now in its newsletter that the service will probably be delayed and will only be released in spring together with the iOS 16.4 update.
Apple Pay Later: Are technical problems the reason for the delay?
This leads me to believe that the company isn't entirely sure when Apple Pay Later will be ready to go. It's possible that the feature won't launch until iOS 16.4 in the spring. I've heard that there were significant technical issues with the service's launch that led to the delays.
Apple Pay Later will be integrated into the Wallet app and will be available for purchases on the web and in apps on iPhone and iPad. The Wallet app has also received other new features in addition to the upcoming Apple Pay Later service, such as the ability to track online orders and more. (Photo by DenPhoto / Bigstockphoto)
