In a letter to investors, well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects the devices to be launched in the fourth calendar quarter of 2022. This is the most concrete forecast that has been made so far. The first one was for 2022, the following ones for the second half of 2022, while the most recent one now speaks of the fourth calendar quarter of 2022. Kuo did not comment on this time, but suspects that "the main chip could be significantly improved." The AirPods Pro will also reportedly get a new design that includes updated motion trackers for better fitness applications.
AirPods Pro 2: Possibly in two sizes?
This redesign reportedly includes a completely new interior unit and possibly two different sizes. In his note on Wednesday, Kuo suspects that Luxshare-ICT will be a major supplier for the product Kuo has previously claimed that the AirPods and the Beats platforms as a whole across a wide price range are important to Apple's future growth. Kuo explains:
The AirPods are more expensive, but are aimed at Apple device users and aim to provide innovation and eco-experience to increase value. Beats are more affordable, are aimed at Apple and non-Apple device users and increase sales or market share.
