If you're waiting for new products from Apple, there's some exciting news. A lighter model for the Apple Vision Pro is in the works, and it could be released as early as early 2026. Initial details have emerged, revealing that Apple is working on multiple versions of the headset. Here's what's currently known about the upcoming update.
Apple is continuing to develop the Vision Pro. An initial update is expected to be lighter, cheaper, and more user-friendly. Insider information already provides numerous details about the material, a possible name, and other variants of the headset.
Apple plans two new Vision Pro models
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is working on two new versions of the Vision Pro. One version will be lighter and less expensive. This model is designed to be more comfortable to wear for extended periods and appeal to a wider range of users. Release is planned for late 2025 or mid-2026 at the latest. Apple is also working on a second, wired model that connects directly to a Mac. In this version, the Mac handles all processing. The goal is to provide a more responsive user experience.
Focus on weight and comfort
A key issue with the current Apple Vision Pro is its weight. To make the new model lighter, Apple plans to switch from aluminum to titanium for the internal structures. Titanium is both more stable and lighter, which should allow for extended wear without discomfort. The outer casing will, however, continue to be made of aluminum.
New design and possible name change
The design could clearly differentiate the two models. According to the information, the lighter version may appear in a color similar to the black of the iPhone 5. This would make it immediately clear whether it is the Pro model or the cheaper variant. There is also speculation about the name. It is possible that the new version will not be called Apple Vision Pro, but perhaps simply Apple Vision or Apple Vision Air. This would allow Apple to differentiate even more clearly between high-end and entry-level models (via Bloomberg).
Uncertainties regarding positioning
It's not yet entirely clear how Apple will position the lighter model within its lineup. According to Gurman, it's unclear whether it will serve as a replacement for the current Vision Pro or be released as a more affordable alternative. Depending on Apple's decision, the new headset could either complement or replace the existing product line.

The next steps for Apple Vision Pro at a glance
Apple is actively working on further developing the Vision Pro. With a lighter, more comfortable, and potentially more affordable model, Apple is responding to the criticism of the first Vision Pro. Particularly exciting is the switch to titanium, which could make everyday wear significantly more comfortable. There's also a possible new color and perhaps even a new name. If you're planning on getting an Apple Vision Pro, it's worth waiting a little longer. The new model will be available from late 2025 to early 2026 at the latest and could significantly improve the VR and AR experience. (Image: Shutterstock / Tada Images)
