On Monday, we already wrote a report about Ming-Chi Kuo's latest forecast - now two more platforms have spoken out and confirmed the information.
The well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had in a report from December 2nd claims that Apple is planning to introduce an iPad Pro and MacBook Pro 16″ with mini-LED screens. According to his sources, both devices are due to be released next year. While the fourth generation iPad Pro could have an A14X processor, he did not provide any further details on the MacBook Pro 16″. According to the analyst, the mini-LED screens will come from LG Display and the Taiwanese manufacturer GIS. Kuo's claims have now been confirmed by two platforms - Digitimes and Economic Daily News. While Digitimes should be viewed with skepticism, reports from Economic Daily News can be taken more seriously. Digitimes writes in its article:
Apple will introduce a 12.9-inch iPad Pro series with mini-LED displays in 2020, with suppliers beginning to ship them in the third quarter, according to industry sources.
Digitimes
In a separate report, Digitimes also referred to the 16-inch MacBook Pro. The Economic Daily News also confirmed reports that GIS will take over the assembly of mini-LED displays for Apple, which are intended for an iPad. According to this, three independent sources already believe that new mini-LED devices will be available in 2020.
Thinner, lighter and same advantages as OLED
Kuo has already highlighted the advantages of mini-LED displays on several occasions. They enable thinner and, above all, lighter products in the overall package, while offering the same advantages as an OLED panel. They have very good performance, including a wide color space, high contrast and dynamic range, and true black. (Photo by 4itolino / Bigstockphoto)
