Apple has been hiring engineers since 2019 to "develop the next generation of media apps for Windows." The Apple TV application has already been released on Xbox. Now two more applications are to follow.
The US blog 9to5mac reportedthat Apple wants to place the music and podcast apps in the Microsoft Store this year. According to the sources, Apple is said to have tested both applications in an internal beta, which are intended for the Microsoft platform. However, it remains unclear whether the two apps are intended for the Xbox or also for Windows PCs. The Apple TV app has so far only been presented on Microsoft's games console. This means that the music and podcast apps could also only be intended for the console. But there are also reasons that give hope for a Windows debut.
Microsoft Store: Bye Bye iTunes?
With the introduction of macOS Catalina in 2019, Apple scrapped iTunes and split it into three separate applications. The old iTunes still runs on Windows, however. Apple could therefore replace the outdated software, which has not received any new features for a long time, with a new app. It is therefore conceivable that Windows PCs will also be taken into account. When Apple hired engineers to work on new Windows apps in 2019 wanted The company stressed that the job requires experience with the Universal Windows Platform (UWP), which is essentially the modern Windows app platform. As Apple expands its investment in services, a debut on Windows would make sense. So, as always, it remains exciting.
