According to a new report, Apple's next-generation 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, which are expected to feature M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, may launch even later than expected.
The latest 13-inch MacBook Pro was introduced in June with a new M2 chip. Its debut suggested that the larger 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models would arrive before the end of 2022. However, during the quarterly earnings call in October, CEO Tim Cook stated that Apple's product lineup is "set in stone," meaning that the new MacBook Pro models will no longer be released in 2022. A new report by DigiTimes now suggests that the new models will face further delays.
New MacBook Pro models are still a long way off
However, there is no word on when the M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pro models will launch. Apple partner TSMC began mass production of its 3-nanometer chip process for the next generations of Mac, iPhone, and other Apple devices in late December. An earlier rumor from June claimed that Apple would use the new chip process in the aforementioned MacBook Pro line. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported in September that Apple had cut orders for the M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pro line by as much as 30 percent before production began. (Photo by Unsplash / Maddox Furlong)
