A new report suggests that the global chip shortage is affecting production of the upcoming MacBook Pro models, and could lead to another delay in the launch.
The brand new MacBook Pro models have already been delayed according to various reports. Production was originally scheduled to start in April 2021. This delay was justified by the global shortage of components and is probably the reason why Apple did not present the new models at WWDC 2021 as expected.
MacBook Pro 2021: Long delivery times cannot be ruled out
According to Digitimes Asia, the bottlenecks have now reoccurred at Apple. Citing unnamed sources from the industry reported the publication that the unveiling could be postponed again. The report states that the sources assume that the new MacBook Pro models will be presented in November rather than October. If various other sources are to be believed, Apple will definitely present the devices in the fall. Due to the chip shortage, however, it is possible that the new professional notebooks will be available in very small quantities at the market launch. Long delivery times cannot be ruled out.
