Last week, Apple introduced a MacBook Pro 16″ with new keyboard technology. A 13-inch model is now expected to follow in the first half of 2020.
According to a new DigiTimes report, Apple is planning to introduce a MacBook Pro 13" in the first half of 2020. This will also be equipped with the new scissor keyboard. The platform claims to have learned this from industry sources. Currently, some observers believe that the 13-inch MacBook Pro could become a 14" model if Apple takes the same path as with the latest device. But there is no concrete evidence of this so far. According to the latest report, the new scissor keyboard for the smaller MacBook Pro will be produced by Wistron and Global Lighting Technologies.
Bye Bye Butterfly Keyboard
The new scissor keyboard is basically based on the well-known Magic Keyboard for iMac and Co. Since this technology has not had any defects so far, the problem with defective MacBook Pro keyboards should now be a thing of the past. Another innovation in the MacBook Pro 16″ is the return of the good old ESC key in physical form. Exact details about the MacBook Pro 13″ are unclear, but the small professional notebook could receive similar changes to its big brother. According to the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to equip all notebooks with this keyboard technology by the end of 2020. Given the history of the butterfly keyboard, this step should not be surprising. (Photo by PixieMe / Bigstockphoto)
