Apple, a giant in the technology industry known for its consumer electronics, is now expanding its activities into the AI server market. The company is relying on advanced chipsets such as the M2 Ultra and plans to use the M4 chip in the near future.
Analysis by Jeff Pu, an analyst at Haitong, published in a recent investor note offering supply chain insights suggests that Apple is expanding its manufacturing capabilities.
Technological advances and partnerships
According to reports from Jeff Pu and information obtained by MacRumors leaked Apple has already started producing AI servers that use the M2 Ultra chip. These servers are assembled by Foxconn, a long-time Apple manufacturing partner. By the end of 2025, Apple plans to introduce servers based on the M4 chip, which is manufactured using TSMC's 3nm process.
Apple's strategic direction
This move is part of Apple's strategy to verticalize its supply chain and gain greater control over its manufacturing processes. By developing its own AI servers with home-made chips, Apple aims to optimize the performance of its data centers and the efficiency of future cloud-based AI applications.
future plans and AI initiatives
According to Jeff Pu, Apple is expected to showcase new AI features that can be run directly on devices at WWDC in June, including summarizing audio recordings, improved photo and video editing options, and real-time translation. These developments could be deepened in upcoming iPhone models, starting with the iPhone 16 and evolving through to the iPhone 17, which will focus even more on AI features.
Apple's commitment to advanced AI infrastructures
The launch of AI servers equipped with Apple's latest chips marks a significant step for the company towards becoming a leader in AI infrastructure. This development once again demonstrates Apple's commitment to innovation and the continuous improvement of its technology platform. The impact of this strategy will not only improve Apple's product offerings but also strengthen its position in the fast-growing artificial intelligence market. (Photo by Unsplash / Carles Rabada)
