According to a new report, Apple plans to add the mid-2012 13-inch MacBook Pro to its vintage product list later this month.
As the US blog MacRumors reported, Apple plans to upgrade the mid-2012 13-inch MacBook Pro to the list of vintage products. As a reminder, the Vintage List includes devices that have not been sold for more than five but less than seven years, while the Discontinued Products List includes devices that were discontinued more than seven years ago. Devices on the Vintage List may still receive hardware service from Apple and certified service providers, subject to availability of repair components and as required by law.
13-inch MacBook Pro: The last model with a CD drive
However, hardware service is no longer available for discontinued products. The device was launched in June 2012 and was the last Mac sold by Apple with a built-in CD/DVD drive. The MacBook was offered as a cheaper option alongside the thinner 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display until October 2016. On the software side, Apple stopped supporting the model with macOS Big Sur in 2020. (Photo by Alena.K / Bigstockphoto)
