As expected, Apple has introduced a new entry-level device. It is called the iPhone Xr and is also equipped with Face ID.
The iPhone Xr has a 6.1" screen - this is not OLED but an almost frameless LCD with a notch. The complex design of this display is said to be one of the reasons for the delay. The LCD panels are manufactured by LG and Japan Display. The backlight in the area of the notch is said to be particularly problematic. Errors occur repeatedly here, which is why the actual production volume has not yet been achieved.
According to various reports, Apple is also facing a software problem. The iGroup still needs to optimize the display quality. The new iPhone Xr can officially be pre-ordered from October 19th. Delivery will begin on October 26th.
