Recently, a report was published claiming that Apple will remove the SIM card slot from the iPhone 15 Pro. Now, several reports have surfaced that shed more light on the matter.
Originally from a Brazilian iPhone blog claimedthat Apple wants to remove the SIM card slot with the iPhone 15 Pro. Since the rumor was spread by a platform that is not an established source for Apple leaks, we were very skeptical about it. But now reports follow from two reputable sources, one of which is particularly well informed - a leaker. The US blog MacRumors claims to have learned from an anonymous tipster that "Apple has instructed major U.S. carriers to prepare for the launch of eSIM-only smartphones by September 2022," meaning the iPhone 14 models could already be the first to use eSIM technology exclusively.
iPhone without SIM card slot: Apple is said to already have a prototype
After the report was published, Twitter leaker DylanDKT has now also spoken out reported. He has made a name for himself in recent months by unveiling numerous products precisely before their official launch. Now DylanDKT said he agrees with "the recent rumors about the removal of the physical SIM card slot." However, he left open whether the whole thing will happen with the 2022 or 2023 iPhone series and which countries will benefit from it first. According to his sources, Apple already has a prototype that does not have the physical slot. Since the next iPhone generation will not be released until September 2022 at the earliest, a lot could change in Apple's plans. If there are any more rumors about this, we will of course report on them. (Photo by sirichaibigstock / Bigstockphoto)
