The new iPhone 9 is now finally in the production review phase - the final testing phase before mass production. But now there are new rumors about Apple's plans.
Although the iPhone 9 (also known as iPhone SE 2) is finally in the production review However, the release for mass production may still be pending – warns DigiTimes in a new report. The Taiwanese news platform has, in addition to yesterday’s report published another one, according to which Apple has now postponed component orders for the iPhone 9 to the second quarter. According to the report, Taiwanese circuit board manufacturers have been informed that deliveries of components for the iPhone SE 2 have been "postponed". These were originally supposed to be invoiced in the first quarter (March to be precise). But the source told DigiTimes that Apple wants deliveries in the second quarter.
iPhone 9 only available in limited quantities at launch
Basically, it sounds like production bottlenecks in advance have led to Apple temporarily halting the flow of component manufacturing further down the supply chain. But what exactly does that mean? At the moment, it is assumed that Apple will present the device this month despite all the problems - although there will most likely only be a limited number of units available at launch. This means that waiting times can no longer be ruled out. Previous rumors have suggested an Apple keynote on March 31 and the launch of the iPhone 9 on April 3. But a live event in front of a large audience is now increasingly being doubted. Apple has already canceled its participation in this year's SXSW Film Festival. It is more likely that Apple will present the products in the form of press releases. This was practically common practice last year - even for completely new products such as the AirPods Pro.
