Rumors that Apple might add a periscope lens to the iPhone 2022 have been circulated several times documented. Now there is a new report on this.
Apple could possibly use Samsung components for a "folded" telephoto lens in 2022. The camera upgrade in question would enable a significantly higher optical zoom. If this happens, it can be assumed that this upgrade is intended for the Pro versions. The reported at least according to Korean website The Elec. The anonymous source claims that Samsung's electromechanical subsidiary will supply components such as actuators and lenses to LG, which would use the components to manufacture the folded camera module. This move prevents Apple's relationship with LG from being damaged and allows continued use of the related patents.
iPhone 2022: Huawei shows the way
Reports of a folded or "periscope" lens in the 2022 iPhone were first published in March by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. In recent months, rumors have been mounting around the topic. The technology would enable significantly higher optical zoom on iPhones, far beyond the current limits of 2x and 2.5x on the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, respectively. The Huawei P40 Pro+, for example, has a periscope lens with up to 10x optical zoom. With a folded camera lens, the light absorbed by the image sensor is "folded," allowing for greater optical zoom and improved image quality while maintaining a compact lens design suitable for smartphones.
