There are now plenty of rumors about the iPhone 2021 series. There have also been reports of significant improvements in the camera area - now there is more.
The alleged iPhone 12S Pro and Pro Max, which are expected in the fall, are said to receive an improved ultra-wide-angle lens with the additional functions of sensor-shift image stabilization and autofocus – the reported DigiTimes. The iPhone 12 Pro comes standard with dual optical image stabilization for the wide-angle and telephoto lenses. The iPhone 12 Pro Max, on the other hand, is the first iPhone to feature sensor-shift optical image stabilization for the wide-angle lens. Sensor-shift optical image stabilization shifts the sensor itself instead of the lens, resulting in a sharper image with better image quality.
iPhone 2021: Apple improves under the hood
According to DigiTimes, Apple will include sensor-shift OIS for both the wide and ultra-wide lenses in the iPhone 12S Pro and iPhone 12S Pro Max. An earlier report suggested that Apple plans to include the wide-angle lens with sensor-shift OIS in the rest of the iPhone lineup. The new lenses will also feature autofocus, according to the report. In November last year, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the ultra-wide lens for the iPhone 12S Pro models will also benefit from a larger ƒ/1.8 aperture, compared to ƒ/2.4 on the iPhone 12 Pro models. The iPhone 12S lineup is expected to consist of four models, all of which will receive a LiDAR scanner. The Pro models could feature a 120Hz ProMotion display. (Photo by neirfy / Bigstockphoto)
