In a few days, Apple will unveil the 2019 iPhone, and the 2020 iPhone is already taking over the rumor mill. But what can we expect next year? A new note highlights the three most important changes.
What the iPhone 11 will offer us should already be known – read more hereBut for many fans, the innovations are not enough - rumors about the iPhone 2020 surfaced very early on - to the detriment of the 2019 series. If you compare previous reports about the two generations, you quickly realize that the iPhone 11 is less exciting. But in 2020, Apple's smartphone should finally offer more innovations and that's where star analyst Ming-Chi Kuo comes in. His hit rate when it comes to upcoming Apple devices is almost legendary, which is why die-hard fans always take his reports seriously. In his latest note to investors, he names the three most important and biggest innovations in the iPhone 2020 series. They are all already known, but further confirmation can't hurt.
3D camera with time-of-flight technology
According to his information, Apple will present the iPhone in a completely new design next year. The changed form factor will also bring new sizes to light. The two flagships are expected to appear with 5.4 and 6.7 inch displays, while the cheaper model will continue to have a 6.1 inch screen. Kuo also emphasizes that at least the premium models of the iPhone 2020 series will receive 5G support - the cheaper model will probably keep the LTE standard. The third major innovation is expected to be a further update to the camera. According to this, Apple plans to use a 3D camera based on time-of-flight technology. This would result in significantly better photos - but new augmented reality functions would be the highlight. In principle, ToF technology is similar to the infrared TrueDepth camera system that can be found on the front of the iPhone today and enables facial recognition. Adding a 3D sensor system to the rear camera would therefore enable detailed 3D photo capture.
iPhone 2019 with new antenna design
In the new announcement to investors, Kuo did not fail to mention the upcoming iPhone 11. He claims to have learned that the new iPhone generation will have a new antenna design.
The update should, among other things, significantly improve indoor navigation. Apple will present the new iPhone generation on September 10th in its own Steve Jobs Theater – you can find out how you can follow the event live here. (Photo by Gorlovkv / Bigstockphoto)
