New technologies used in the iPhone 13 series could result in a slightly thicker body, along with a redesigned and noticeably larger camera bump.
The 'iPhone 13' lineup is expected to launch in late 2021 with some minor changes to the overall design. The iPhone 12 had significant design revisions, so Apple will likely change very little about the outer casing of the next iPhone. According to schematics obtained by MacRumors seen The case will be 0.17mm thicker. The US publication also says that the designs revealed by the schematics match dummy models shown by Unbox Therapy – to the report. The camera bump will also have an increased thickness. The iPhone 13 will have a camera bump of 2.51mm, compared to 1.5mm and 1.7mm on the iPhone 12. The iPhone 13 Pro will get a significantly thicker camera bump of 3.65mm. MacRumors believes that the camera bumps will be thicker to reduce the lens protrusions on the back of the device.
iPhone 13: Pro models could get similar camera capabilities
Apple has made a similar design change to the iPad Pro's cameras. As seen in the Unbox Therapy video, the camera bump will also be larger. The reported dimensions for the "iPhone 13 Pro" will be about 36mm by 37mm, similar in size to the iPhone 12 Pro Max. This means that the Pro iPhone models in the next generation could have similar camera capabilities. Leaks of this kind usually come from accessory makers who get Apple's iPhone dimensions early to design cases. Since the source of the schematics and dummy model is unknown, it is difficult to determine the accuracy of the leaks. The "iPhone 13" lineup is expected to be announced at an Apple event in September. New features include a better camera system, a 120Hz ProMotion display, and Touch ID in the side button or optionally under the display. (Photo by Eremin / Bigstockphoto)
