The two higher-end "iPhone 13 Pro" models, which will be released in the fall, are expected to use LTPO display technology to enable 120Hz refresh rates (ProMotion), according to display analyst Ross Young.
Well-known display analyst Ross Young has spoken out again on Twitter explainedthat he has heard rumors about iPhone models with LTPO technology. Interestingly, however, this is only one model. In his opinion, however, this is not correct. LTPO OLED displays have a more energy-efficient backplane that is able to switch the individual pixels on the display on and off, which significantly saves battery life.
iPhone 13 Pro models: Content is displayed more smoothly
Young has previously explained that LTPO technology is linked to 120Hz refresh rates and must be implemented before ProMotion can be integrated into the iPhone. Without LTPO technology, the feature would consume too much battery and would be inefficient. Samsung will supply the majority of LTPO OLED displays to Apple, but Cupertino will reportedly also source panels from BOE and LG Display. Apple has long offered 120Hz refresh rates in the iPad Pro lineup. Like the iPad, the higher refresh rate on the iPhone will make on-screen content appear smoother, sharper, and more responsive, for example when reading, gaming, and more.
