The iPhone 12 series is expected to be officially unveiled by Apple in September. So it's not too late for new rumors - quite the opposite. Now a well-known analyst has spoken out about the camera.
Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims to have heard of changes in Apple's supply chain. He believes that Semco and Sunny Optical (the "best" Korean and Chinese lens suppliers respectively) will be included in the iPhone supply chain this year. The inclusion of two manufacturers from the same industry is no surprise in this case. The Cupertino-based corporation has been sourcing components from different suppliers for years to increase competition in its supply chain and reduce costs. According to Kuo, the iPhone 12 camera will use Semco's ball-based voice coil motor, which provides improved autofocus compared to the current spring-based design.
Will iPhones have significantly higher optical zoom in the future?
In addition, the analyst believes that iPhone devices will receive periscope telephoto lenses from Semco in 2022. Periscope lenses have already found their way into some smartphones and offer manufacturers the opportunity to offer a much higher optical zoom in a smartphone. In terms of design, this change would not be noticeable to users, but it would be technically. iPhone cameras currently only offer a 2x optical zoom. The Huawei P30 Pro, for example, has a 5x optical zoom. Rumors say that a device with 10x optical zoom is already in the works. So the iPhone should soon follow suit. The iPhone 12 series is said to consist of four devices in three different sizes. An important common feature of all four models is the display. For the first time, all iPhone models of a generation are to appear with an OLED screen. Below you will find a list of all specifications that have been documented so far but of course not confirmed.
