The reports about the iPhone 12 series just don't seem to let up. Now 3D-printed dummies have been released based on leaked circuit diagrams - Apple seems to have moved the SIM card tray.
The Japanese Apple Blog Mac Otakara has published mockups or dummies of the iPhone 12 series. The models are based on leaked circuit diagrams that are said to come from suppliers. According to them, the images show a 5.4-inch, two 6.1-inch and one 6.7-inch device, with the latter being more like 6.5 inches. According to rumors, however, only two of the four devices will be Pro versions (1x 6.1-inch & 6.7-inch). Apple could advertise the other two as direct successors to the iPhone 11. So while the Max version with 6.5 inches causes some confusion, as a 6.7-inch model was previously predicted, the images confirm the camera structure.
The SIM card tray changes sides
There have been several reports that two of the models will have a dual camera in the style of the iPhone 11. The two high-priced iPhone 12 models, on the other hand, will have a triple camera with a LiDAR scanner. But one detail is particularly interesting - the SIM card tray.
Apparently, Apple has now placed these components on the left side of the devices and not on the right as before. The reason for this repositioning is the 5G antenna module. Previous reports have already suggested such a change. The images, insofar as they are really based on leaked material, could now confirm the whole thing. The images also prove that Apple will again equip the new iPhone generation with a Lightning port and not rely on USB-C, as some have claimed. Since Mac Otakara has a solid track record in this area, there is currently little reason to doubt the mockups. You can find out more about the iPhone 12 in our archive.
