Apple presents the new versions of macOS, iOS, watchOS and tvOS every year at the WWDC (World Wide Developer Conference). The mobile operating system iOS attracts particularly great interest.
This year, Apple was supposed to introduce the next major iOS version - iOS 13. After iOS 12 was supposed to be a pure performance update with only a few new features, according to Apple, iOS 13 is now eagerly awaited. The main focus of iOS 12 was on optimizing performance and improving battery life. Apple also introduced screen time and smaller innovations such as Facetime for groups. The updates were repeatedly plagued with bugs, some of which were serious - to the annoyance of many users. Now expectations for iOS 13 are particularly high.
iOS 13 looks black and CarPlay rocks
The news channel Bloomberg claims to have heard of several new features, citing informed sources. With iOS 13, the interface is also expected to change, among other things. According to this, the long-awaited dark mode is supposedly being introduced. So far, night mode is only available under macOS. If this is actually the case, the user will be able to change the interface from the basic color white to black. Apple is also said to have taken CarPlay into account with iOS 13 - but what innovations we can expect in detail remains unanswered. CarPlay was first introduced in 2014.
The iPad should also benefit
According to Bloomberg, the iPad will benefit more than ever from iOS 13 - in addition to new features, the interface will also be changed. Among other things, Apple is planning to introduce the Tabs function. This will allow users to keep several windows of a specific app open at the same time - similar to the principle of Safari on the Mac. Split View will also be taken into account. In addition to the interface, Apple wants to optimize file management. According to Bloomberg's sources, Apple also wants to make the work of developers easier with the changes.
We will find out from Apple itself whether the information is correct and what else awaits us in the summer at the latest.
Observers suspect that the upcoming WWDC 2019 will take place in June.
