Reports keep cropping up that mention a foldable iPhone. Now Bloomberg has also commented on the topic.
In November last year, it was claimed that Apple had started testing foldable iPhones to be launched in 2022. Bloomberg has now confirmed the rumor but explainedthat the launch timeline is still unknown. According to Mark Gurman, Apple is developing a new iPhone model that can be folded. This new version is intended to compete with Samsung devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. It remains unclear whether this foldable iPhone will ever see the light of day. For example, there have been prototypes being tested by Apple's engineers for some time. According to a source familiar with the matter, Apple does not yet have a fully functional foldable device, which means that this prototype is still in the early stages of development and may never appear.
Foldable iPhone: The most radical change since the iPhone X
Apple's design team has discussed several options for the foldable model, including a device that has the same 6.7-inch display as the iPhone 12 Pro Max when unfolded. At least for now, the prototype foldable screens that Apple has tested have a "mostly invisible hinge" behind the display. If Apple decides to introduce a foldable iPhone, it would likely be the most radical change to the iPhone since the launch of the iPhone X. Companies like Samsung and Motorola have had foldable smartphones in their lineup for some time. But most of these devices don't offer a great user experience. So it remains to be seen if and when Apple will actually introduce such a device. (Photo by ra2studio / Bigstockphoto)
