Apple is reportedly working on a 20-inch device that could be a hybrid between a MacBook Pro and an iPad, with the physical keyboard being eliminated in favor of a software-based version.
A few days ago, the rumor an analyst who claimed that Apple is developing a form of notebook or iPad with a large foldable 20-inch display that could come to market as early as 2025. Now Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has also confirmed this report confirmedthat Apple is actually working on a foldable MacBook/iPad hybrid with two screens. He writes in his newsletter:
Brand new product: Apple could introduce iPad/MacBook hybrid
The company could opt for a foldable 20-inch screen connected to a physical keyboard, or use just one side of the screen as a virtual keyboard. Apple has reportedly actually been exploring a foldable, dual-screen MacBook/iPad hybrid that would take the second approach. It would swap the physical keyboard and trackpad for a full touchscreen.
If that's the case, Apple could launch such a groundbreaking product around 2026, says Gurman. That's roughly the time frame in which the long-awaited Apple Car could also be released. Will that end up being the case? We'll wait and see. (Photo by Unsplash / Ales Nesetril)
