New reports from the supply chain confirm that Apple will include a camera with a foldable lens in the iPhone 15 series, but initially only in the top model of the iPhone.
Previously, it was expected that Apple would include a foldable zoom camera in the iPhone 14 series. Now anonymous industry sources have told The Elec explainedthat both LG Innotek and Jahwa Electronics will supply the system for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. A pop-up zoom system would not visibly change the look of the iPhone and would not necessarily reduce the size of the camera bump. Instead, it would use a mirror or prism that works like a periscope, allowing the system to utilize the length and width of the entire iPhone body.
iPhone 15 Pro Max gets major camera upgrade
According to The Elec, Jahwa Electronics has developed a ball-guided actuator with Samsung. It moves the lens barrel as the ball rolls, increasing the speed of movement and accuracy. It has previously been reported that LG is using Samsung components for its folded zoom system. According to Jahwa Electronics, the system will first be used in the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro are expected to follow in 2024. (Photo by hadrian / Bigstockphoto)
