Apple's work on a type of AR glasses has become an open secret due to some iOS 13 leaks. Now a report claims that Apple has a partner in this project.
The latest report on AR glasses comes from the controversial platform Digitimes. The news site claims to have learned that Apple is working with the company Valve. According to the report, the main suppliers will be Quanta Computers and Pegatron. According to Digitimes, the market launch of the new Apple product has been scheduled for the second half of 2020. It remains to be seen whether the news site will be right, as it has no notable track record in this area. Last summer, Digitimes claimed that Apple had given up on developing AR glasses - but a leak in the iOS 13 code revealed the opposite.
Planned as accessories
So far, little has been said about how the new AR glasses will work. According to reports, Apple wants to market them as accessories. It is suspected that the new AR glasses will function as iPhone accessories. A connection to the iPhone - similar to the Apple Watch - would therefore be a prerequisite. The actual purpose of the Apple AR glasses, however, remains unclear. They could be used for messages, emails and similar tasks as well as AR games. (Photo by ekkasit919 / Bigstockphot)
