In a letter to investors, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo focuses on the production problems with the Apple Watch Series 7. However, he also addressed the Apple Watch Series 8 and future AirPods.
In his letter, Kuo is confident about demand for the Apple Watch in 2022, as next year's Apple Watch Series 8 will offer new health management features, including body temperature measurement. This feature would conveniently transform the Apple Watch into a wrist-worn thermometer, which could be particularly useful for detecting fever, a common symptom of many illnesses. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and Debby Wu previously reported that the Apple Watch will likely receive a body temperature sensor in 2022. In keeping with this, Rolfe Winkler of the Wall Street Journal wrote that the feature would help with fertility planning.
Tim Cook: Apple Watch is still in its infancy
Apple has gradually improved the health features of the Apple Watch over the years expanded, such as heart rate monitoring, arrhythmia notification, ECG app, blood oxygen measurement, fall detection and much more. In an interview with Outside Magazine last year, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the Apple Watch is still in its infancy in terms of the number of sensors that can be built into the device. Cook said at the time:
Think about the number of sensors in your car – your body is probably much more important than your car.
In addition, Kuo again emphasized that future AirPods will offer health management features, but did not give any specific details. As for the Apple Watch Series 7, the focus this year will be on the new design - but not on new health features. (Photo by Denys Prykhodov / Bigstockphoto)
