Recently, well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported on Apple's plans regarding virtual reality and augmented reality products. Now, further details have been released.
The analyst has provided a second report that contains further details on Apple's upcoming VR/AR headset. According to Kuo, Cupertino is developing mixed reality headsets with 15 camera modules. Of these modules, eight will be intended for augmented reality video experiences. A special module will recognize the environment to position objects in the scene and six modules will enable "innovative biometrics," as the analyst explains. The components are supplied by Largan Precision, a Taiwanese company that works as a supplier of camera lens modules for smartphones, tablets and other devices. Kuo expects that the company will benefit significantly from Apple's upcoming headset. From the letter, which 9to5mac present, it emerges:
Apple VR / AR: Headset could cost around $1,000
We have pointed out many times in our previous reports that despite the structural risk of a significant decline in Huawei smartphone market share due to the US ban, Largan still has long-term investment value as the lens specification upgrade cycle and new application trends remain. In terms of short- to medium-term trends, we believe that the following potential advantages of Largan deserve investors' attention, including the adoption of 15 camera modules by Apple's new headsets.
In his latest report, Ming-Chi Kuo reiterated that Apple will unveil a new "helmet-like" headset with micro-OLED displays and augmented and virtual reality capabilities in 2022. The final price could be around $1,000. (Photo by timofeev / Bigstockphoto)
