Apple TV Plus users could soon be able to watch certain sporting events live. A new report at least suggests plans that could make Apple's streaming service even more attractive.
At the beginning of December last year, the Wall Street Journal reported that Apple was making plans to include sports broadcasts in Apple TV Plus. Now the platform is reporting Sports Business Daily about talks between Apple and Pac-12. These are said to be about media rights that could come into effect in 2024. The goal is to offer live sporting events on Apple TV Plus. This means that Apple intends to acquire rights to college sporting events as a first step. Pac-12 President Mark Shuken is said to have spoken extremely positively about Apple.
agreement still pending
The company is currently in talks with several tech companies, but Apple is said to have made a particularly intriguing impression. According to the report, the deal is about the "primary media rights" currently held by ESPN and Fox. The cost is estimated at around $250 million per year. Although the talks are going well, no agreement has yet been reached. Currently, Apple is offering Apple TV Plus a collection of films and series produced by Apple. Sports broadcasts would not only be a good addition to the existing program but could also set the service apart from the competition. The future development of Apple TV Plus should therefore remain exciting. (Photo by Trismegist8 / Bigstockphot)
