With Apple Silicon, Cupertino wants to set new standards and improve the macOS experience. Now there is a report that the company is testing macOS – based on Apple Silicon – on an iPhone.
Some observers believe that Apple is planning to merge iOS and macOS with the Catalyst project. Apple has already denied this. But now a rumor has been discovered that there are iPhone prototypes that run macOS based on Apple Silicon. When asked whether the plan includes a dual-boot device like Boot Camp that allows macOS or Windows on Intel Macs, MauriQHDthat it is "more of a hybrid." Attempts to run desktop operating systems on smartphones are not new.
iPhone could be docked to Mac
But could Apple actually have a unified operating system in planning? The leaker says it is 95 percent certain - although a hybrid is probably more realistic. Since it depends on so many different factors, the project could of course fail. But there will definitely be initial test attempts. Due to the fact that MauriQHD has a good track record when it comes to leaks about Apple and other technology companies, the rumor can be taken seriously. If Apple succeeds in implementing it, the iPhone could be docked to Mac devices, for example. Previous rumors have documented ideas according to which the iPhone could serve as a trackpad, for example. Where the journey will actually lead or end for the end user remains to be seen. So it remains exciting. (Photo by Fedcophoto / Bigstockphoto)
