According to a report by Wayne Ma of The Information, Apple is developing a larger 16-inch iPad that is scheduled to launch in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Rumors about larger iPad models have been with us for several years. Now, however, things are becoming more concrete. The Information experience that Apple is working on a 16-inch model that is expected to be released in late 2023. This would be the largest iPad model ever and would significantly surpass the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The report states:
A 16-inch iPad would likely be aimed at creative professionals such as graphic artists and designers who prefer a larger screen.
No further details about the future device were revealed. It would have the same screen size as a 16-inch MacBook Pro and would offer users a significantly larger surface to work on.
In addition to the 16″ iPad, a 14″ model could also follow
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman claimed last year that Apple is exploring the idea of larger iPads that could further "blur the lines" between a tablet and a laptop. Earlier this year, spot-on analyst Ross Young claimed that Apple is also developing a larger 14-inch iPad Pro with a miniLED display. Taking these two rumors into account, it's possible that Apple is planning to launch both a 14-inch and 16-inch iPad Pro next year, which would be in line with the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros. Just last week, Apple updated the iPad Pro with the M2 chip, an Apple Pencil hover feature, support for ProRes video recording, and a few other small improvements.
