Last year, Apple announced the end of iTunes on the Mac with macOS Catalina announcedHowever, the software is still available for Windows. Now there is a report that a new app is coming.
Mac users have not had access to iTunes since last year. The situation is different for Windows users. Now reported the Italian website Aggiornamenti Lumia, according to which Apple is preparing to launch a new app in the Microsoft Store. However, it was not explained which application this is. Since Apple buried iTunes last year, it stands to reason that Windows users could now also get a successor. Perhaps an Apple Music app? With the end of iTunes, three new applications were added to the Mac: Apple Music, Podcasts and the Apple TV app. Now there is speculation as to whether the application is actually the streaming app.
Engineers with UWP app experience
Last year, the Cupertino-based company hired engineers to "develop the next generation of media applications for Windows" - remember. At the time, Apple explained that the position required experience with the Universal Windows Platform (UWP), which is essentially the modern Windows app platform. Although iTunes has been available in the Microsoft Store since 2018, it is still the classic desktop software and not a UWP app. So it's safe to assume that iTunes is now being replaced. When the new app will be introduced also remains unknown. A launch in the fall would not be entirely unlikely, although an earlier debut cannot be ruled out. (Image: Microsoft)
