Apple is reportedly considering an update to the HomePod mini as the company plans a bigger push into the home device market, including releasing an updated version of the larger HomePod model.
In his current “Power On” newsletter reported Mark Gurman that Apple is considering an update to the HomePod mini, which was announced in October 2020. Gurman doesn't reveal any details about what a potential update might include, but it's unlikely to be anything particularly major. As previously reported, Apple plans to revive the first HomePod after it was discontinued in March 2021. The updated version of the HomePod is rumored to have an S8 processor and possibly a new multi-touch display on the top.
HomePod: Apple is working on several home products
Gurman claims that the new large HomePod will launch in early 2023, which is consistent with Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's statement. In addition to an updated HomePod mini and a new large HomePod, Gurman has previously reported that Apple is working on several new products for the home sector. The most ambitious project currently in development is reportedly a HomePod that combines a speaker, Apple TV features, and a FaceTime camera in one device. Additionally, Apple is working on a device for use in the kitchen that combines an iPad and a speaker with a robotic arm. Gurman expects at least one of these two home products to launch towards the end of 2023 or early 2024. (Photo by Unsplash / Cristian Cristian)
