On September 10th, Apple will present three new iPhone models and the fifth generation of the Apple Watch as part of its September event. In addition to hardware, new information is also expected on the service level. Now many are asking the question - will a new Apple TV also be released?
Apple's ambitions in the TV business should be known to most people. In March this year, the company announced Apple TV+ - the service is intended to compete with the likes of Netflix. As part of this, Apple is trying to gain a foothold on third-party devices by releasing the redesigned TV app and thereby massively expand its reach. But is it possible that Apple is also planning a new Apple TV? It is possible - although there are hardly any rumors about it. The reason for this assumption is Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade. Cupertino also wants to expand the gaming service significantly and make it available on all Apple devices. A TV box with better performance would therefore be appropriate. The Apple TV HD debuted in 2015, followed by the Apple TV 4K in 2017 - if this rhythm continues, an update would be due this autumn.
A12 chip and HDMI 2.1
The rumor mill is keeping a low profile, but one Twitter account gives hope. A few hours ago, Twitter user @never_released published a post about an alleged upcoming Apple TV. According to this, he expects a new Apple TV model with the identifier 11.1. According to his information, the TV box will be equipped with an A12 chip. The device will also be released with an HDMI 2.1 port. The port would enable the transmission of 4K videos at 120 frames per second – even Apple Arcade would benefit from the new A-series chip and HDMI 2.1. (How to set up your new Apple TV)
The Twitter user did not reveal where he got this information from. There have been no concrete rumors so far that a new model is coming - at the beginning of the year there was only speculation about an Apple TV stick. Despite the meager rumor mill, an update to the TV box would make sense and not be entirely unrealistic. (Photo by Masarik / Bigstockphoto)
