Apple's plans for 2022 include a redesign of the iMac Pro, a major update to the AirPods Pro, and a number of other product launches, a new report once again highlights.
Apple is widely expected to unveil a variety of product updates in 2022, including the typical iPhone launch in the fall. A new report says that the return of the iMac Pro is also planned. In the Bloomberg newsletter "Power On" explained Mark Gurman shares his expectations for product launches in 2022, talking about an iMac that will be “bigger than the current 24-inch iMac” and which he believes will carry the iMac Pro brand.
New iMac Pro could appear with fourth M1 chip variant
According to his prediction, the model will have "similar chips to the M1 Pro and M1 Max processors." The device will also receive a facelift that will give it a "similar design" to the 24-inch iMac. These claims are not surprising, as they line up with previous rumors that suggested a new iMac Pro model in early 2022. In December, a report said the device would have a 27-inch display with mini-LED backlighting and support for 120Hz ProMotion. The statements about the processor are also not new. It was previously claimed that Apple will introduce a fourth M1 chip variant with the device. Gurman also mentioned the AirPods Pro in his newsletter, which will reportedly receive a "major update" later this year.
AirPods Pro 2: New design and more
Rumors suggest that the AirPods Pro 2 could be released sometime in fall 2022 and feature a new design that reduces or completely removes the stem. According to various sources, the AirPods will support lossless playback and will receive new features such as case tracking and health sensors thanks to improved processing. Finally, Gurman reiterated his prediction that Apple will hold an event in March or April and unveil the iPhone SE with 5G, a new iPad Air, and a new Apple Silicon Mac.
