Apple has now announced that it will host a virtual event on Tuesday, April 20. One of the new products to be unveiled at the event is a brand new iPad Pro with a miniLED display.
After much speculation, it is finally official. Apple's spring event will take place on April 20th. Now reported Taiwanese news site DigiTimes reported that Apple supplier Ennostar has significantly improved the production of mini-LED chips and is expected to ramp up production for the new iPad Pro this month. This information is consistent with a statement by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who claimed that the new iPad Pro will go into mass production in mid to late April. In addition, Mark Gurman and Debby Wu of Bloomberg recently reported that Apple plans to introduce new iPad Pro models in the second half of April. The announced "Spring Loaded" event can therefore be seen as an indirect confirmation.
iPad Pro 2021 with MiniLED, 5G and more
According to the report, the miniLED backlight is intended exclusively for the new 12.9-inch model. This means that the 11-inch version will continue to use the normal display. Both devices will, however, be equipped with the A14X chip. The new processor is reportedly on the M1 chip level. The use of the new processor will also offer Thunderbolt support on the iPad for the first time. Furthermore, it is expected that the cellular version of the new Pro tablets will have 5G support. In terms of design, however, nothing will change. This means that the new iPad Pro generation will be the same as the previous models. Due to production problems, the large tablet will only be available in limited quantities at launch, according to Bloomberg. Customers will therefore have to expect longer waiting times.
