Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects that Apple will update most of its audio devices after the new HomePod, but not until the second half of 2024.
While Apple's release of the redesigned HomePod, which is available today, was a surprise, there have been ongoing rumors of other devices like a HomePod mini 2. Now Kuo says he expects there to be a HomePod mini 2, but not until the second half of 2024. Kuo emphasized cautious that this is his prediction based on research into the supply chain. In addition to the HomePod mini 2, the AirPods Max are also expected to be updated.
HomePod mini & AirPods Max: What innovations can we expect?
If he's right, that means the AirPods Max will be updated at least three, if not four, years after their December 2020 release. It's safe to assume that the over-ear headphones will be available in unchanged form this year. The HomePod mini also launched in November 2020. There have been price fluctuations and the introduction of different colors, but otherwise nothing has changed since then. Rumors of a cheaper version of the AirPods have been around since the launch. Recently, however, other analysts have suggested that Apple could make a "Lite" version to compete with cheaper wireless earbuds. What innovations the upcoming products might include is not yet known. (Photo by Unsplash / Super Snapper)
