The third generation of AirPods is already eagerly awaited. Until now, it was claimed that the presentation would take place sometime in the fall. Now there is a report that gives more details. To be precise, the new earbuds are supposedly to be unveiled together with the iPhone 13 series - at least that's what DigiTimes claims.
The report is consistent with previous rumors that production of the third generation of AirPods will begin in August, meaning a launch is expected shortly thereafter. DigiTimes However, it goes a step further and states that deliveries of certain components needed for the AirPods have already begun in “small quantities” and are expected to ramp up in the third and fourth quarters of the year.
AirPods 3: New design expected
The third generation of AirPods will be the first update to the standard AirPods since March 2019. At that time, support for wireless charging, "Hey Siri" and improved internals were introduced. Compared to the modest update in 2019, the upcoming AirPods are expected to have a completely new design based on the higher-end AirPods Pro. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman recently stated that he believes an Apple event for the upcoming iPhones will take place in September. Now DigiTimes assumes that the new plugs will be unveiled together with the iPhone 13 series in September. It would of course be possible - the alternative to the event would be a press release. Whatever Apple decides - it remains exciting as always. (Photo by wabeno / Bigstockphoto)
