Since Apple announced in 2018 that it would offer services in addition to hardware and software, the company has introduced several new subscriptions such as Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+ and finally the Apple One package. Now there are reports that an audiobook service could be added.
In a new Article from The Economist about Apple's efforts to compete with Netflix, Disney and Amazon in the video streaming war, there is an interesting hint about the company's next move in the services space:
Will Apple announce an audiobook service in 2022?
In recent years, Apple has focused on smaller media offerings, including Arcade, a subscription games package, News+, a publishing package, and Fitness+, which offers video aerobics classes. An audiobook service is expected to be added later this year.
Unfortunately, the article only mentions the possible audiobook service, but without any further details. Interestingly, Mark Gurman wrote a few weeks ago that we should expect more Apple services in 2022. According to this, it could be the aforementioned audiobook service. If further rumors emerge, we will of course report on them as always. (Photo by Eremin / Bigstockphoto)
