In the last few days, there have been a number of leaks regarding the AirPods 3. Most sources claim that Apple will introduce the new earbuds this month. But one person contradicts all of this.
There have been repeated reports about the AirPods 3 in recent days and weeks, with images appearing frequently that are said to show the new design. But now renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has spoken out and explained that the new AirPods will not go into mass production before the third quarter of 2021, which means that they are not imminently about to debut. However, according to some leakers, a digital event is to be held on March 23rd. The presentation of the new plugs is supposedly planned as part of this keynote.
AirPods 3: Is Apple sticking with the second generation?
The bulk of Kuo's report focuses on the AirPods sales forecast. The analyst predicts that Apple will see a decline in Apple headphones shipments this year as Cupertino is facing increasing competition from other manufacturers. Kuo explains that Apple shipped around 90 million AirPods in 2020 and expects this to drop to around 78 million in 2021. In addition, Kuo claims that Apple is considering continuing to market the second generation of AirPods once the third generation is released, but this is not yet certain.
