According to various rumors, Apple will introduce the AirPods Pro 2 this year. Now the actual range of functions is being examined in more detail.
Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shed light on the second generation of AirPods Pro in a new letter to investors. Kuo believes that the new Pro earbuds will support Apple Lossless Audio (ALAC). In addition, the new charging case will have similar capabilities to AirTag. To be precise, users will be able to play a sound to locate the charging case more quickly. It can therefore be assumed that the whole thing will be made possible by the "Find My" network.
AirPods Pro 2 in a new design?
Some time ago, pictures surfaced, which supposedly show the new case with small cutouts. So the whole thing could be seen as a kind of confirmation. In addition, the plugs are said to have lossless support. How exactly Apple wants to implement this is not known, however. Since the AirPods are known to play audio via Bluetooth, they are limited to the AAC codec. Higher quality Apple Lossless Audio Codec files would have to be streamed to the AirPods differently in this case. Apple would therefore have to develop an alternative solution. Kuo also confirmed that the next generation of earplugs will have a new design and will be released in the fourth quarter of 2022. Whether he will be right remains to be seen, of course.
